Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) Born on May 23, 1707, Carl Linnaeus is regarded as the Father of Taxonomy. His system for naming, ranking, and classifying organisms is still used today and his ideas have influenced generations of botanists and ecologists. On the occasion of the tercentenary of his birth, we have compiled a selection of great titles on botany, the naming of plants and Linnaeus himself.
