The National Report on Sustainable Forest Management, compiled by the State Forestry Administration combines various national forest inventories, results from monitoring, investigation and statistical information, and references to authoritative literature and professional reports. It focuses on the following aspects: protection of biodiversity, maintenance of ecosystem productivity of forests, maintenance of forest ecosystem health and vitality, maintenance and conservation of soil and water resources to maintain the role of forests in the global carbon cycle, maintenance and enhancement of multiple long-term socio-economic benefits and social needs, and sustainable management of the legal, institutional and economic system. It describes the main achievements of 20 years of sustainable forest management in China, and analyzes the hot issues and the direction of development of the country and its society, fully reflecting the regional processes in China, which is acting as a responsible big country and is actively participating in and fulfilling international conventions to create a good international image. It also summarizes Chinese sustainable forest management.
