The culmination of the largest continent wide survey of birds in the world, this Atlas documents the seasonal distribution and breeding maps for over 650 bird species. Change maps are also presented for 250 species, identifying those that are more common or less common since the first Atlas completed 20 years ago. Birds are good indicators of changes in biodiversity as they are easy to identify, numerous, and sensitive to change. The book includes illustrations of each species commissioned from leading Australian artists.
