New Records of Molluscs from Vietnam contains 427 pages presenting 903 marine gastropods, 228 marine bivalves, 157 land snails, 15 freshwater shells, 7 tusk shells, 3 cephalopods, 1 chiton. It furthermore contains photos of 48 live shells, 60 Opercula, 64 WRS shells, 6 shell motifs, 1180 color photos of favorite families of collectors & 23 remarks on Vietnam malacological fauna. For each species the scientific name, English name, synonym, description, size, habitat, and occurrence is given.
Dr THACH, N.N. (born in 1940) is a Doctor on Oceanography and also a conchologist. He did research at the Nha Trang Oceanographic Institute (Vietnam) and the Ocean Research Institute of University of Tokyo (Japan) from 1963 to 1973 at the Department of marine sediments. Then, he moved to teach at the Nha Trang Coastal University of Vietnam. Since 1975, he has collected many shells in Vietnam. His collection consists of more than 4000 species including gastropods, bivalves, tusk shells, nautiluses, chitons (terrestrial, marine and freshwater shells). He is a member of many Associations of conchology of the world (France, Belgium, USA, etc.). Many of his articles have appeared in conchological magazines worldwide. You may find his articles in many magazines such as: Xenophora (France), La Congiglia (Italy), Xpisiana (Germany), American Conchologist (USA), Of Sea and Shore (USA), Argonauta (Italy), Special Publication of Phuket Marine Biology Center (Thailand), Bulletin of S.I.C. (Switzerland). He is also author of the book Shells of Vietnam, published in 2005 in Germany and the book Recently Collected Shells of Vietnam, published in 2007 in Italy.
