The aim of Noctuidae Sibiricae - the first volume of four - is to fill the last large gap of knowledge concerning Noctuidae of the northern
hemisphere: the vast area of Russian Sibiria from the Ural Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. The area westwards is covered by Noctuidae Europaeae and
the other side by the series Moths of North America and the monograph Moths of Japan.
Volume I contains the full list of Noctuidae of Sibiria, not previously available, and thoroughly commented. The systematics follow that of the latest knowledge published (Fibiger & Lafontaine, 2005). The area has been subdivided into 14 more or less natural biogeographic zones, and the total Sibirian distribution is listed for each species and each zone. Also the literature is described in detail for each zone.
