The Eurasian otter was one of the sad casualties of the 20th century, with populations declining drastically throughout its range, largely because of pesticides, habitat loss and hunting. They became locally extinct in Switzerland, Belgium and Holland and the population is still classified as vunerable. The aim of this book is to introduce the world of the otter in Britain by providing facts, information on identification, diet, threats, law and conservation.
