Analyses the cause of the high level use of pesticides in developing countries and looks at reasons why the adoption of other pest control methods is limited. The study advocates the use of an integrated pest management approach (IPM) which combines several pest control techniques. Those countries which directly or indirectly encourage the use of pesticides are highlighted.
