Compendium of information designed to help with the recording and identification of British and Irish plants for Atlas 2000. It aims to augment the coverage of taxa in Stace's New Flora of the British Isles and the various BSBI Handbooks with additional or alternative keys, tables of characters, drawings, identification hints, and extensive comment and discussion. In all, some 325 taxonomic groups are covered.
`...for serious botanists, one of the key works of the decade and absolutely indispensable for the naming of our trickier flowering plants and ferns...The new Plant Crib has a wealth of new identification tips, for example on horsetail hybrids, monkey flowers, eyebrights and water crowfeet. The layout is much improved, and the drawings are better. Used as a detailed back-up for the new edition of Stace's New Flora of the British Isles (1997), this will undoubtedly be the field botanist's constant companion for at least the next ten years.' Peter Marren in British Wildlife, August 1998.
