About this book

Language: French

Presented as a catalogue, this work is aimed at the amateur naturalist, the fisherman, the scuba diver, but also the tourist curious to discover the marine fish of West Africa. The professional fisherman and the maritime fishing agent will find there the scientific and vernacular names in local languages of Ouoloff, Léboui, Soussou, Sérère, Mandingue and Vili.

The most common species have been selected and a few others retained for their morphological or biological originality. The quality of the illustrations makes it possible to identify the fish without identification keys. For each species, a short description, insisting on the distinctive characters and the coloration, completes the drawing. Data on geographical distribution, habitat, and biology are also presented. A glossary facilitates reading for the non-specialist.
