Of the 576 butterfly species known to occur in Europe, 71 are considered threatened according to new IUCN criteria. This book is based on a Dutch biodiversity project and aims to identify the areas where conservation efforts should be urgently focussed. Within these 431 areas, described country by country, the focus is on target species.
