About this book

With illustrations and concise information on behaviour, habitat and specific conservation issues, A Field Guide to the Mammals of Bhutan is not only a rich repository of the kingdom's mammals in all its diversity but also reflects Bhutan's strong conservation priorities. The guide provides comprehensive information on the 200 or so mammals including several endangered species that find sanctuary in Bhutan's protected and pristine environment. Each mammal is described in detail with data on habitat, behaviour, size, and weight supported by life-like colour illustrations and distribution maps. For some mammals there is additional information like its lineage. An insight is provided into the diverse mammal species in Bhutan including endemic species and endangered species like the golden langur, rhinoceros, snow leopard and tiger. The last pages contain a checklist for easy reference with illustrations on size, tracks and a common name and scientific name index.
