This volume of animals of Hebei deals with the Subphylum Crustacea, Phylum Arthropoda. A total of 396 species belonging to 239 genera, 118 families, 19 orders and 3 classes are described in this issue. This volume consists of two parts: general accounts and systematic accounts. In the first part, a brief history of studies, morphology and biology of crustaceans, classification, phylogeny and economic significance of this group are reviewed. In the second part, the following topics for each species are treated: scientific nomenclature, description of characters, geographical distribution, with emphasis on the localities in Hebei province, including the municipalities Beijing and Tianjin. Diagnostic characters of each taxon, keys to different categories are given in details. And if necessary, taxonomic discussions for some groups of species are mentioned as well.
