The fifth volume of this series Acarorum Catalogus is devoted to the families Sarcoptoidea – Lemurnyssidae, Lobalgidae, Psoroptidae, Listropsoralgidae, Rhyncoptidae (incl. Audycoptidae), Sarcoptidae, Pneumocoptidae, Gastronyssidae, Chirorhynchobiidae Analgoidea – Pyroglyphidae, Dermationidae, Epidermoptidae, Ptyssalgidae, Turbinoptidae, Cytoditidae, Laminosioptidae, and Guanolichidae.

About 487 sp. are listed therein, with synonymies and citations in various papers. Acarorum Catalogus, Volume 5 also contains a list of by-country distributions and lists of authors who published on any known species of these families. There are also lists including hosts of these mites. The bibliography consists of more than 2000 titles. Other volumes of the same series on the patterns of the first five are under way.
