About this book

Language: German

In this rugged and fieldwork-suitable identification guide all thirteen species of native German reptiles and various escaped species are presented in more than 300 photos, including distribution maps. All species are illustrated in their various stages of development and with different coloring and drawing features. This makes it possible to reliably identify indigenous lizard or snake species in the wild without special training.

Even for the experienced reptile lover the identification guide provides lots of interesting information. For all species the distinction between the sexes is discussed in detail, information is provided to the possible subspecies and their determination, and nesting sites and eggs are presented. For the first time, a separate chapter is dedicated to determining species from molts, as well as from remnants of road victims.
