About this book

Language: Portuguese

This book is a popular treatise on the pterosaurs, the winged creatures that, alongside the dinosaurs, fascinate people. Pterosaurs and dinosaurs can be seen as sister groups each of which followed distinct evolutionary paths: pterosaurs adapted to master the skies, while dinosaurs dominated the land. Research has confirmed that pterosaurs were reptiles that flew and lived in Brazil for 115 million years. This book tells how the work of paleontologist has resulted in our knowledge of pterosaurs today, and how there was an explosion in many different shapes and sizes. The first pterosaur was discovered in Brazil. Up to now 24 species of pterosaurs have been described from Brazil and we know that they went extinct 65 million years ago.
