About this book

This book provides a compilation of rare bird records, not by species or locality, but by the day on which they occurred, with the aim of providing a useful tool for predicting when rarities will turn up. Covering 282 rare species and sub-species, some 20,000 individual records are listed in diary style covering the years 1958 to 1994. Each record is listed in county order with finding site, number of birds and length of stay, and there are a number of illustrations by Dave Nurney.

Digital reprint of a book originally published in 1996.
