Featuring effective protection against predators, this nest box can be used for boosting breeding success or when undertaking restoration and
construction work in breeding areas. The adjustable fixing bracket means that this box can be attached in a variety of places including under bridges
and on vertical walls, and can even be installed in wetlands for pied wagtail use. Built to Schwegler's exacting standards, the nest box is made from
a plant fibre - wood-concrete mix, resulting in an exceedingly durable, rot-proof and breathable material designed to mimic the properties of natural
nest sites and last up to 25 years.
The box should be installed at least 0.5 m above the high water line, preferably above deep, flowing water because dippers tend to dive into the water if threatened. Dipper nests in particular can become infested with parasites so it is always advisable to clean the nest box after the breeding season (i.e. from late August onwards).
