An extended version of the proven Schwegler Swift Nest Box (Single Cavity) No. 17. The Swift
Nest Box 17A can accommodate three pairs of swifts in parallel. This nest box combines very good success in assisting the rapid formation of swift
colonies with convenient mounting effort due to its two L-shaped fixing brackets on both sides (supplied with screws).
Fixing: fix on a wall using the two galvanized brackets supplied or, alternatively, it can be embedded within the wall.
Siting: at least 6 to 7 m above the ground. Please ensure unobstructed access for birds entering and leaving the box.
Positioning: high up on external walls of buildings of all kinds, including churches and industrial buildings, preferably under the shelter of eaves or overhanging roofs. Can also be successfully installed on steep rock faces. A clear distance (drop) below the box is recommended, preferably 5 m or more.
Cleaning: the box can be easily opened by rotating the circular plate containing the entrance hole by 90 degrees and removing it. Swift nests are always located in the darkest corner as far away from the entrance hole as possible. Cleaning is easy and convenient with this box but is not essential.
