John Parminter set about researching and investigating what the finest mountains in Scotland really are, then explored and photographed them. His curiosity took him on a journey full of rewarding experiences, interesting discoveries and memorable sights.
He climbed and reacquainted himself with old favourites, sought out hidden and unfamiliar mountains and was pleasantly surprised by unexpected and beautiful scenes. All the Highland areas are covered, from the picturesque region of the Trossachs in the south, sweeping up through the rugged central area and visiting Ben Nevis on the way, before proceeding through the remote coastal glens as far as the majestic beauty of Ben Loyal in the north. John visits the bold hills of the Cairngorms before finishing his journey on the islands and the magnificent Cuillin.
Over three years of passion, excitement, toil and frustrations have gone into capturing these images, culminating in Scotland's Fifty Finest Mountains: A Photographic Exploration. This book will appeal to fans of photography, outdoor walkers, residents of Scotland and fans of its scenery.
John Parminter was born and brought up in the Lake District and has been walking over the fells for over 30 years, with a passion for the mountains of the Scottish Highlands. He is a passionate photographer of natural beauty, and has enjoyed award-winning success with his images.
