About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Chinese

The book includes 696 wild species of 331 genera in 93 families of seed plants and more than 1900 photos, all from the karst region of Southeast Yunnan in China. Every species is described in characters, distribution and usage, attached by photos of habitant, flowers and fruits, and followed by voucher specimens and their deposited herbaria. The book focuses on tropical, difficult and endemic taxa of seed plants, firstly showing the live photos of 74 new taxa, 13 new recorded ones to China and 14 to Yunnan.

At the family level, Gymnospermae is arranged based on the system of Fl.Reipubl. Popularis Sin.vol.7, while that of Angiospermae according to the system of Hutchinson (1926).

The book emphasizes the tropical, difficult and endemic taxa of seed plants in the karst region of China, we also tried to minimize the duplication of information with other similar books. So, many photos of plants are first shown in China, even in the world. Besides, the book also pays special attention to the original state of environments, and the authors have made an effort to exhibit detailed characters of flowers and fruits, in order to make readers realize that these plants are so beautiful and peculiar that they should be treasured and protected.
