The first major flora to the Japanese Archipelago to be published since Ohwi's work of 1965. The aim of the work is to provide definitive descriptions of all known species, subspecies and varieties, including naturalized species, plus detailed information on distribution, ecology, nomenclature, chromosome number and references to illustrations. Detailed keys to genera, species and subspecies/varieties are provided. The Flora is planned as a 4-volume work, although it is unknown when this will be completed.
