The Home Counties are among the most wildlife-rich parts of Britain and the Surrey Wildlife Trust’s Atlas series goes some way towards showing that to be true.

The Surrey Wildlife Trust published its first atlas - on Surrey’s butterflies - in 1995 and this series will eventually cover all the county’s insects. In some cases these are the first studies of Surrey’s invertebrates since Victorian surveys a century ago, and these atlases are intended to aid recording and as a tool for continued wildlife conservation. The Surrey Wildlife Trust manages 7,000 hectares of the county’s countryside, for plants, people and other animals.
