WBA Monographs

The World Biodiversity Association is a non-profit Association founded in 2004 by a group of naturalists with the main objective to give a contribution to discovering and saving biodiversity in Italy and all over the world. WBA has a Scientific Committee formed by scientists, botanists and zoologists from several research institutes.

WBA was founded because today we know only a little part of the fauna and flora species living in the earth; we know of two million species, but naturalists estimate the total number is at least ten million, three quarters of them living in the tropical rainforest. Naturalists estimate that the distruction of the rain forest at the actual rate (100,000 square kilometres every year) is the cause of the extinction of tens of thousands of species annually. The Association has the aim of censusing biodiversity, through naturalistic expeditions to the areas where it is higher, and conserving biodiversity through a capillary educational activity, aimed in particular to the younger generation: teaching diversity, tolerance, the right to life for all organisms, and the respect of the natural balance.

The WBA Monographs series offers in-depth monographs, so far published in Italian, on specialist subjects.
