NHBS started life as the Natural History Book Service in London in 1985 with a catalogue of around 500 ornithology books. Our bi-annual newspaper-style catalogues of natural history books are a thing of the past, but are still fondly remembered by many of our customers.
Now based in a warehouse on the outskirts of Totnes, Devon, we offer the world's largest selection of wildlife, science and conservation books – our book catalogue includes more than 122,000 individual titles, from large and small publishers, in many different languages, and sourced from all over the world.
Since 2009, and particularly after the acquisition of Alana Ecology in 2011, the NHBS range of products has been expanded greatly to include ecology and biodiversity survey equipment. We outgrew our old premises in 2014 and moved to a larger building around the corner, still on the industrial estate in Totnes.
We take great pride in our legendary customer service – and we mean real service – the kind that bends over backwards to offer help and guidance, speed and promptness, and personal attention by email or phone. Try us on firstname.lastname@example.org, or 0044 (0) 1803 865913.
