The Wainwright Prize, first awarded in 2014, is a literary prize that seeks to reward the best British outdoors, nature and travel writing. The prize is named in honour of Alfred Wainwright (1907-1991), the British author, illustrator and hillwalker who is most well-known for his seven-volume Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells, published between 1955-1966.

Analysis of 12 years of data by the University of Manchester and the Moors for the Future Partnership has confirmed that efforts to improve the environmental health of the Peak District and South Pennines moors are having significantly positive results.

With 2016 on record as the fourth worst year for UK butterflies since monitoring began, this year's Big Butterfly Count aims to assess whether 2017 will see an improvement. This excellent citizen science project runs from 14th July to 6th August.

The removal of invasive species from islands is an increasingly common conservation tool, intended to improve seabird nesting success and adult survival. A recent study published in Animal Conservation, and discussed in Island Conservation, looks at the long-term impacts of this form of conservation intervention.

The Birds of the Falkland Islands represents the culmination of decades of fieldwork by the author and others. lt summarises our current knowledge of the status and distribution of birds in this fascinating archipelago.
This is the first monograph in English to cover the tropical American slipper orchids. Written by Phillip Cribb, perhaps the leading orchid taxonomist in the world, together with Christopher Purver. Beautifully illustrated throughout with colour botanical paintings by Carol Woodin, as well as black and white line drawings, colour photographs and maps.
SBF Volume 60: Marine Gastropods 1 is the first of three volumes covering the marine patellogastropod, vetigastropod and caenogastropod molluscs. This volume is primarily concerned with the two most recognisable subclasses – Patellogastropoda and Vetigastropoda – true limpets and topshells.
