Trial reintroduction of Lynx - consultation 
The Lynx UK Trust have put out a call to stakeholders for feedback about a trial reintroduction of lynx to sites in Scotland and England. The Trust plans to apply for a license in 2016 and has released documents outlining the proposal. The consultation period ends 9th December 2015.

High extinction risk for cacti
The Kew Science blog reports that following an IUCN global species assessment, 31% of cactus species are listed as Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable. The Brazilian Cactus Action Plan is an ongoing project which implements strategies to protect the country's threatened cactus species.

Large protected areas at risk of downgrading
Researchers have found that larger protected areas are more at risk of downgrading, downsizing and degazettement (PADDD) events. A clearer understanding of the complex political and economic dynamics underlying such events may need to become an essential consideration for conservation planners.
