New protection for seabirds in Portugal
Seabird conservation in Portugal has received a boost with the approval of two new designated Special Protection Areas. The decision was based on ten years of monitoring data and will lend added protection to the critically endangered Balearic Shearwater and other seabirds.

Land Degradation Neutrality on the UN agenda
The 12th United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification is taking place this month in Ankara, Turkey. With support from IUCN experts, it is hoped that targets will be set towards the sustainable use of land in the face of growing populations and higher demand for food and other resources.
