Britain's first ever breeding Little Gulls
Two Little Gull chicks have succesfully fledged and one has been spotted in flight on an RSPB Scotland Nature Reserve in Aberdeenshire - a first for the tiny species in Britain. The Little Gull (Hydrocoloeus minutus) is the smallest gull species and usually breeds in northern Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia and Siberia.

Tree roosts confirmed by Jersey bat research
Members of the Jersey Bat Group and professional ecologists have used radio-tracking to locate tree roosts for the first time on the island. Another first for Jersey, a Daubenton's bat (Myotis daubentonii) was caught on the week long-course run in association with the Bat Conservation and Research Unit (BatCRU).
