This book contains colour photos of woody plants found in Songyang County, a county of Zhejiang, China. The illustrations include trees, shrubs, and lianas for a total of 653 varieties and 101 species belonging to 88 families and 288 genera (35 varieties of 10 species belonging to 8 families and 25 genera of gymnosperms, 618 varieties of 91 species belonging to 263 genera and 80 families of angiosperms). More than a thousand photos of trees taken in their natural habitat are includd. Gymnosperms are arranged according to the Zheng Wanjun system, angiosperms according to Engler's system, within families and genera, species are arranged alphabetically by Latin name. The illustrations reference Zhejiang Flora, Zhejiang Seed Plants Identification Manual, Zhejiang Tree Collections, Zhejiang Medicinal Flora and other books. Vernacular names used by local people are also included.

本图鉴共收集木本植物，包括乔木、灌木、木质藤本共653种，变种、品种101种，分别属于88科288属。其中裸子植物8科25属35种10个变种；被子植物80科263属618种91个变种。有树木形态实物彩色照片千余幅。在编排上，裸子植物按郑万钧系统排列，被子植物按恩格勒系统排列，科内属、种按拉丁学名字母顺序排列。本图鉴参照了《浙江植物志》、《浙江种子植物检索鉴定手册》、《浙江树木图鉴》、《浙江药用植物志》等工具书，别名部分还参考了本地民间常用的士名。另外，还想说明的是，过去在松阳有分布的部分珍稀树种和药用植物，近几年被采掘破坏有些已经很难找到了， 因此，加强动植物资源保护应该引起社会各界的高度重视。
