The Milky Stork population in Malaysia has undergone a decline of more than 90% over the last 20 years. Not more than 10 birds remain in the Matang Mangrove Forest. Correspondingly, the total number of wintering waterbirds at Matang has declined be between 75 and 95% over a 10 to 17 year period.

11 recommendations are proposed in this report to conserve the Milky Stork and its habitat in the Matang Mangrove Forest and adjacent coastal areas.
