'Strophyla is a unique landscape of rare natural beauty, the result of a combination of an extraordinary variety of wetlands, terrestrial and coastal ecosystems. To the rear of the vast sandy shore with its embryonic and fully formed sand dunes lies the forest of Aleppo pines and the unique forest of Stone pine, the largest in Greece. The Alternation of salt marshes, seasonal swamps, fish pools - known in Greek as divaria from the latin vivarium, the streams, the oak forest and the remains of the old aquatic forest with its Narrow-leafed Ash tree (Fraxinus spp), all create a mosaic of incomparable beauty and variety.
This complex mosaic of ecosystems has proved a worthy challenge to the photographers with its variety of forms, colours and points of view. It is this variety which Lambros Logothetis and Philippos Katsiyiannis have endeavoured to capture, with magnificent results.
