The evaluations in the 2010 Norwegian Red List are based on guidelines from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN). In the process of making the Red List 21,000 species have been evaluated. Of these 4599 have been included in the Red List. A total number of 2398 species is categorised as threatened.
