This atlas employs over 130 satellite photographs to depict the natural foundations and processes of global change as well as the destructive effects of human actions. Studying the effects of specific transformations on particular regions, a series of case studies explain many natural and man-made phenomena including: Thermal currents: The El Nino Phenomenon; Plate tectonics: The San Andreas Fault; Earthquakes and Volcanism: Mount St Helens; Distribution of Clouds: Hurricane Andrew over Florida; Distribution of Vegetation: Irrigation in Saudi Arabia; and Air Pollution: Germany's Industrial Region.
