About this book

Aphidoidea form one of the most important group of phytophagous insects because of their polymorphism, host-alternating heteroceious behaviour, reproductive habits, and above all their role as largest group of insects vectors of plant-viruses. The Fauna of India and adjacent countries, in this group, constitutes about 16% of the world fauna, including a large number of endemic species and so far no consolidated account was available on this economically important group of insects. The present work, started in 1976, has been so planned as to be published in several parts. The present volume deals with an introductory chapter on Aphidoidea, leading to the subfamily Chaitophorinae, one of the smaller groups of the family Aphididaee.
