The Lapland World Heritage area comprises high plateaux and mountains, huge virgin forests, extensive stretches of bogland, river valleys and deltas, and fantastic geological formations, covering in all some 9,400 square kilometres. The area is populated by a wide diversity of plant and animal life, including bears, lynxes, wolverines, golden eagles and peregrine falcons. Here, too, live the largest protected elks in Sweden. This book presents a lyrical description of the natural abundance of this area, alongside lavish illustrations depicting the Lapland wilderness.
