About this book

The New Zealand majid spider crab fauna comprises a total of 18 species belonging to 11 genera representing four of the seven subfamilies into which the family Majidae is currently divided. The present report treats 17 species extensively, the material on which it is based (almost 400 specimins collected in New Zealand waters) making up 16 of these. Previous work on the group in New Zealand and the general classification of the group on a world-wide scale are briefly reviewed. Keys to species and genera are provided, along with zoogeographical relationships considered.
