About this book

This two-volume set covers the care and breeding of all of the snakes of the United States and Canada, providing information on environment, preferred foods and feeding tricks, and the problems unique to each species. Also included are chapters on the most popular pet species of North America, such as the two boas, six king snakes and the rarer rat snakes. The general care section contains new drug charts, temperature charts, a deworming chart and advice on feeding. A section entitled "Disasters" includes a series of short, and sometimes humorous, anecdotes meant to help herpetologists avoid potential disasters of their own. The book also contains a section of references for every species discussed, and is illustrated with colour photos and quick reference boxes on every species. The two volumes are also available separately: Volume One (Eastern Area) - ISBN 0-89464-590-0; and Volume Two (Western Area) - ISBN 0-89464-808-X.
