Johannes Erritzoe is a Danish scientific conservationist. At the age of 21 he started a shop for school materials, gradually concentrating on scientific work for museums all over the world. In the 1960s he made of scientific expeditions to Greece, Turkey and Africa. Since his earliest childhood, bird books have been his first love. His library, with the main emphasis on conservation, morphology and systematic studies, now occupies 60 metres of shelving. He has been working daily with birds - dead and living - for nearly 40 years, and is a member of many ornithological and conservation societies around the world. A prolific writer of articles on birds, his work has appeared in Danish, German and English journals He is married to Helga Boullet, co-artist for this book. An artist of long standing, she has had exhibitions in the Denmark and the Netherlands. She is editor of the Scandinavian Cactus Journal.
