Title information
In 1990, Japanese photographer Michio Hoshino hired Alaskan native Lynn Schooler to help him film humpback whales in Glacier Bay. The two, whose friendship grew, often spoke about the near-extinct glacier bear, so-called for its granite-coloured fur. Together, the two men searched to capture the blue bear on film, an obsession which cost Hoshino his life. Finally after 8 years Schooler finally found and photographed the elusive creature.
