The first comprehensive work on the butterflies of the Maghreb since Oberthur's Etudes de Lepidopterologie comparee published in parts at the turn of the twentieth century. Both sexes of all 175 taxa in the region are illustrated life size, in full colour. The detailed treatment of each species includes sections on description, habitat, host-plants, time of appearance, distribution/range and relevant taxonomic notes. A gazetteer of place names, as well as the first concise bibliography for the region, is also provided.
