This monograph on the caves of Easter Island is based on the field research of a Polish team of speleologists, archaeologists and anthropologists conducted between 2001 and 2008. During this time, an inventory was made of 315 volcanic caves, all included in this book along with a plan and a description of each of them.
The book also includes general information on the island, cave genesis and the role of the caves in the history and culture of the people. The geology of Easter Island is also considered along with chapters on the large and small archaeological objects found there.
