Kevin Schafer is a professional natural history photographer and writer, whose work has appeared in all of the most respected science and nature magazines in the world including National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Smithsonian and G.E.O. He was the 1997 recipient of the Gerald Durrell award for photography of Endangered Species. Trained as a sea bird biologist, he has travelled to all seven continents to document wildlife, conservation and eco-tourism issues. His previous book Penguin Planet, received the 2000 National Outdoor Book Award.
