John and Lynda's review
We thought this book gave a great insight to the interesting life of a glow worm. The photographs are brilliant and the information is written clearly. Well worth a read!
Good things come in small packages
John Horne is clearly devoted to his subject, and this book is a little gem. I'd previously only thought of glow worms as the little-seen flying beatles in hedgerows sometimes glimpsed on an evening stroll. This book lifts the lid on their entire lifecycle, and is packed with facts, some revealed for the first time, thanks to Mr Horne's extensive studies. The book has numerous macro photographs and beautiful colour illustrations. Highly recommended.
Secrets revealed!
This book is packed with information about glow worms, much of it based on John Horne's own observations. These little glowing beetles are a magical sight on a summer's evening, and are surprisingly widespread, yet as the author shows, there is still plenty of room for further study. The writing style is clear and engaging, and the superb photos and artworks make it particularly useful as people often have problems with distinguishing the larvae from the adult glow worms. Though I have studied glow worms myself for many years, this book still told me things that I didn't know.
