Facsimile reprint of one of the most influential natural history publications ever published in Ireland. Best known as a botanist, Praeger was also a zoologist and geologist of some standing. This work, the result of five years of weekends spent exploring the countryside, is a wonderful evocation of the emerald isle as it was sixty years ago. It also contains a superb description of a bog-burst, a phenomenon which has disappeared along with the bogs.
