About this book

Despite the many discussions concerning the desirability of incorporating development dimensions into the current round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations, there has been a dearth of discussion concerning how these issues could be specifically incorporated in the Doha Round agreement. The purpose of this book is to make a contribution towards understanding how WTO trade rules relevant to agriculture can be structured in a manner compatible with the development and poverty alleviation objectives of developing countries. The papers in this book were presented and debated during a two-day workshop held in Rome in February 2006, and revised according to comments received during intense and constructive discussions during the workshop.
