This book contains the proceedings of the National Conference on Biodiversity Depletion, held on 28-29 September 2012 at the botany department of the MLV Government College, Bhilwara, India. A total of 124 delegates participated in these two days of academic activity. Abstracts of the research papers were received from far and wide on various themes of biological diversity. The topics deliberated in this conference were; biodiversity: the present status, rare and threatened floral and faunal elements and their conservation, climate change and its impact on biodiversity, biodiversity assessment, causes and consequences of biodiversity depletion, bioprospection and utilisation of biodiversity, diversity in flora and fauna, ethnozoology / ethnobotany and medicinal plants, in-situ and ex-situ conservation of biodiversity, community participation in conservation of biodiversity, rare / endangered flora, fauna and their conservation, role of biotechnology and tissue culture in biodiversity conservation, and climate change and biodiversity.
