About this book

Language: French

Switzerland has long been connected to the world. Swiss naturalists, who have discovered the world since the eighteenth century, have contributed greatly by establishing relations with other scientists in Switzerland, Europe and beyond. Researchers are, however, hardly known.

This book is intended to fill this gap: 15 authors here present great personalities who were supposed to be well-known (such as Louis Agassiz or Albert Einstein) in a new light, while others, until now neglected (such as Clémence Royer or Boukary Porgo), emerge from their marginality, even their anonymity, while their importance to the development of the natural sciences and modern Switzerland is highlighted.
