Series: The Fossils of Solnhofen / Die Fossilien von Solnhofen Volume: 2
By: KA Frickhinger (Author)
190 pages, 310 colour photos, colour illustrations
Language: Bilingual in English and German
Supplementary volume to the 1994 work describing the abundant fossils of this area of Germany.
One might suppose, that during those years years after the The Fossils of Solnhofen appeared and in which the author continued with photographic documentation, much better specimens would have been found than those already illustrated, and that one would hardly have the oppurtunity to take photographs of really new discoveries. But on the contrary, one had to realize that about one third of the specimens were new species. The others showed at least morphological peculiarities which are indistinctly or to a minor degree observable in such specimens, which had been available. Thus, the reader will find in the present Supplement a very low number of "repetitions". But the new specimens demonstrate some new aspects, because other, more excellent and expressive finds were discovered.
