The revised edition of this classic encyclopedia is a beautiful photographic account and a well organised mine of information mammals throughout the world.
For each mammalian order and family, there are general descriptions, followed by detailed accounts for selected species, as well as numerous brief accounts of other species. The text covers all aspects of morphology, behaviour and ecology, and is comprehensively illustrated with colour plates and colour photographs. There are also maps of distribution for selected families and/or species.

A new edition titled "Encyclopedia of Mammals" is due to be published in October 2006.
