About this book

Language: German

This volume of Avifauna Baden-Württemberg contains the first part of the songbirds (flycatchers to buntings) and begins with detailed evaluations of the biology of the bird species found in Baden-Württemberg. In a total of 4 volumes, 2 volumes on passerines and 2 volumes on non-passerines (split out over four books), all bird species recorded in Baden-Württemberg are dealt with systematically and comprehensively. The main points are the brood distribution, both in Baden-Württemberg and in its entirety, are represented, as well as the breeding population, the population development and its causes, the reproductive biology, the seasonal occurrence with migration routes and wintering areas as well as food.

For all breeding bird species, the distribution is shown quantitatively in raster maps and the distribution at altitude for a large area in specially developed raster maps for the first time. Breeding populations and population developments are given quantitatively, as well as important breeding-biological parameters, e.g. laying and hatching dates. The migrations are also described quantitatively in terms of space and time, and the migration routes and wintering areas are developed using ring find evaluations.

In addition to important evaluations for scientific ornithology, this volume thus offers the fundamentals that are decisive for nature conservation work.
